I dedicated the last two posts to machines, AI and technology and I have barely scratched the surface. This past year I have learnt more about the world of technology than I have in the last decade. I also learnt just last evening that there are HR courses that exist that make you an expert in cognitive sciences and machine learning. While I am yet to figure where these courses are offered, they are much needed for the HR professionals of the future.
This is going to be a short piece for the point I need to make is simple and emerge from the last two posts. If you haven’t read them, I would highly encourage you to do so. My 31-day challenge is simple – learn more about technology. It could be as easy as watching one tech related talk or reading about technology every day. It doesn’t have to be related to HR. Maybe take a course in R programming. If you work in a technology organization, maybe spend time digger deeper into what engineers do; maybe develop a web app. Whatever it is that you decide to do, do something every day for 31 days.
What will I do? Likely the easy bits first. It doesn’t come naturally to me and boundless curiosity can only take you so far. I intend to consciously supplement the curiosity with dedication. Maybe I’ll end up a little better prepared for the world that is to come by.
What do you think? Is it a challenge that you’d like to join me on? Maybe we could exchange notes next month on how the month went by.
