I posted my first book review on Tuesday and soon after received a series of requests for book recommendations. So, if you’re looking for one final book to end the year with, here’s a quick cheat post on what I would recommend based on my 2018 reads. Book Review: 8 steps to High Performance by Marc Effron
Life is unfair. Some people begin their career with a clear advantage. Your intelligence (measured in IQ) is inherited, so is your socio-economical background, height, appearance and core personality. As per Marc Effron, these together form 50% of the factors that predict success. Nevertheless, the other 50% is entirely in your control. It is this 50% that that the book hopes to address.

Not another HR Conference
Last week, I headed to my third HR conference/conclave of the year. As I set yet another out of office message, I got a text from a colleague asking me what I expected to learn from the conference that I did not already know. The one word answer - ‘Nothing’. Don’t trust the research
Raise your hands if you have ever frowned with doubt at research quoted by a colleague or in an article. Nod your head in agreement if you have ever wondered – ‘What the source? Four days to go for the biggest HR conference in the country - Yes, I am counting. As I pack my bags for New Delhi, I am penning down notes on how to make the most of the two days I spend there. In the past, I’ve always fretted about which sessions to attend, whether … Continue reading How to: Make the most of HR conferences
THE DOWNSIDE OF BEING WISER
Every alternate article on the World Wide Web makes a reference to unconscious bias and discrimination in one form or another. Look hard enough and you’ll find it. There are, of course, some forms of discrimination that are referred to about more often than others are. Take for example, diversity. The words that probably come … Continue reading THE DOWNSIDE OF BEING WISER
