Big Idea 2014

A series of highly interesting posts have been making an appearance on the LinkedIn series on Big Idea 2014.  As I was going through these, I realized that 2014 is going to be a year where we all just get much lazier. Out mental acumen may improve but our bodies will be abused much more. This might be a side effect of taking customer service to a whole new level.

I’m going to try and break the multiple thoughts cluttering my head into a few hopefully, crisp points.

Shopping, technology, everything else is going to be provided at your doorstep. These changes will make sure that you can sit at your cubicle/workplace much longer. ‘Online’ is the buzz word. Big Data is too, but we’ll come to that later. Everything is moving online. The longer you use paper in any form, the faster you are in d danger of being obsolete. If people are talking about electronic money, paper is surely on its way out; especially with this entire buzz on environment.

What does this mean for us?

  1. A few of us may carry the tag of ‘technologically challenged’. This is the time to drop that. Automate, go online, and discard unnecessary paper/mail. Learn the latest technologies and show your management what it can do for you. Recruitment is going mobile, sales pitches are being shared on mobile platforms, information is being stored on the cloud and analytics is now a matter of second. Review what your organization is doing and automate it. (Think moving R&R on a social media platform too if not already done)
  2. Because everyone is spending so much on making their life sedentary, a lot more will be spent on health. Gym membership, diet fads, hospital expenses will rise. Companies which manage to put employee health in focus will stand to benefit.

While I lap up the articles on offer, you should go check it out too. Who knows, you may just stumble upon the next big thing for your business!
