Abandon Anonymity in Employee Surveys?

I love the folks over at Fistful of Talent. So much so that I even wanted to write for them; but that’s a different story. I love how they question everything & suggest the improbable. (Note: I didn’t say impossible). So, when earlier this week when Jason Laurtisen suggested that we abandon anonymity in the Employee Engagement surveys, I sent the mail around to my entire team.

Needless to say, it generated much discussion. I personally love the idea. Not because I think it works but because there is a clear lack of research that talks about anonymity and employee engagement surveys. I would love an organization to experiment and share its findings. Even more, I would love organizations to question if most surveys need to be anonymous.

Jason is right – It’s new. It’s different. It’s controversial. But is it truly a better way? I don’t know!
